Ubuntu Jaunty Jackalope final release udah dilaunch beberapa hari yang lalu. Saya baru sempat instal dan sedikit ngoprek hari ini. Terlepas dari namanya yg terdengar konyol, versi ubuntu terbaru ini menurut saya lumayan mengalami perbaikan dari versi sebelumnya, Intrepid Ibex yg menurut saya merupakan rilis ubuntu paling sucks, sangat menyebalkan, terlalu banyak bug. Setelah explore selama sehari penuh ini. saya masih menemukan bug yang sebelumnya sudah ada di Intrepid dan rupanya belum terselesaikan di rilis ini, yaitu tidak bisa menentukan static ip-adress melalui applet network manager. saya harus remove network manager baru kemudian setting static ip secara manual. Ini resiko dari keputusan canonical untuk release ubuntu versi terbaru secara periodik dengan jadwal yg pasti. sehingga walaupun belum stable benar, mau tidak mau harus di launch. Tapi secara umum ada peningkatan yang lumayan. Ada beberapa Fitur baru Ubuntu jaunty Jackalope yang tidak terdapat di rilis sebelumnya.

Kwin adalah KDE window manager bawaan dari KDE 4.2 yg terinstall di desktop opensuse 11.1 saya. setelah terbiasa dengan 3D desktop compositing menggunakan compiz dengan window manager emerald yang cantik dan cepat, Kwin ini terasa lambat walaupun 3D desktop effect-nya sebenarnya tidak kalah cantik dengan compiz – emerald. Compositing mode yang saya pakai adalah openGL. Ternyata kemudian ketemu masalahnya bahwa rendering dengan TFP (Texture From Pixmap) lebih lambat daripada menggunakan SHM (shared memory). Untuk mengatasinya adalah dengan mengubah mode TFP menjadi SHM. Berikut ini sedikkit sedikit trik untuk mempercepat kinerja KDE 3D desktop effect dengan KDE window manager Kwin

Giving a surprise gift it’s been my habit lately. I just loved to see the happiness tears from my wife, my mom, and my children. Especially the kids, well of course they are not crying, but to see them happy, it’s giving me a lot of happiness too. I know they were love playing video games. Without I have to teach them, it’s like they were born to do it. I can’t beat them when we had playing together. Children nowadays are more brilliant than my decade before. Wondering with what they have eaten to get that.
So my plans will give them a gift of wii video game. It’s quite brand new video game consoles for them, I guess. I don’t know if they have been playing it before. So it will no longer surprise anymore, will yea? But just forget about it. Lucky me, I have my own video game buying guide when I was buy this thing. Looks like buying from online store are more favorable than I have to circle around the mall for looking it. And shopwiki are the best online store to make it happen. Not just provided for video games only but anything related with video game just like video game controller, and accessories are here. So I don’t need to go anywhere besides just playing with my mouse to handled gaming guide for me. Cause the kids might be need my help to turn on the video games I bought for them.
